Question

Can I use the USB on the HX-chipset ?

Answer

The chipset does support USB but the BIOS does not support it. The MSM-P5 has no filters included. The 2 pins are directly connected to the 82371. WIN98 on will recognize the USB- port. DOS mode and USB is not supported.

Question

By using NT, the booting up takes more than 5 minutes. Using WIN95, goes normally.

Answer

WINDOWS NT detects all hardware devices at the beginning of booting. The attached Hardware might not easily be recognized and therefore takes up to several minutes to load the parameters into the operating system.WIN 95 reads the values directly from the BIOS, therefore the time to boot up the system is relatively quick in comparison to WIN NT.

Question

Please advise if it is possible to record the video inputs to a disk at a full frame rate of 30 frames/second or it can be used to display only without recording. If it can be recorded, what is the max. recording rate, and in which resolution ?

Answer

The demo program supports only a resolution of 640x480 and 800x600 in WIN95. The demo program of C&T is capable of only saving pictures in different extensions: a. Windows device-independent bitmap 24 bit RGB, 8 bit color, or 8 bit grey-scaleb. Targa 32, 24, or 16 bit RGB, 8 bit color, or 8 bit grey scale. d. TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) 24 bit RGB, 8 bit color, or 8 bit grey scale, e. and IBM M-Motion (4:1:1) compressed luma/chroma format.

CONNECTOR DESCRIPTION:CONNECTOR DESCRIPTION: Connector Controller Named as Defined in J6 Internal ELAN COM 1...2 BIOS J14 External Super I/O Primary BIOS- lefthandside COM 1...4 BIOS J15 External Super I/O Secondary BIOS- righthandside COM 1...4 BIOS

Question

How many additional PCI units (slots) can I attach?

Answer

There are 3 more master unites, which will be detected. Since we still use the C&T 69000, which needs no IRQ, we have those 3 for free use. This might change in the future due to another VGA- controller.

Question

Why can I not install a WIN98 and NT on an e.g. MSM-P5SEN ?

Answer

If you use a MSM-P5SEN with no VGA, then one is not able to install a WIN98 or NT due to the fact, that those OS are looking for a VGA being attached. I am told, that with embedded NT, one can disable the VGA search while installing it.

Question

Is it possible to boot from LAN ?

Answer

Only with the MSMP5/3XEV and the MSME104+ (since V1.4) it is possible to boot from LAN.
